The Badger and Co. team are chuffed to announce that we have been shortlisted for a Restaurant and Bar Design Award in the Pub category, keeping fine company with some of the UK’s most dapper venues. Now in their 9th year, the awards recognise design excellence among a plethora of venues in the Food and Beverage industry.

Drawing inspiration from the iconic novel ‘The Wind in the Willows’ by the property’s former tenant, Kenneth Grahame, the team behind Badger and Co. envisaged a woodland retreat nestled under Edinburgh Castle, featuring a labyrinthine grown-up’s playground with nooks and crannies housing peculiar creatures and quirky surprises. The walls are adorned with stuffed animals and paintings evoking the characters from the classic tale and instilling the venue with an element of whimsy that perfectly complements the eclectic, contemporary vibe of the bar. The colour palette, dominated by rustic metallics and soft forest greens, is lifted by pops of electric blue that is as refreshing as it is unexpected.

Tucked under the main venue is Toad Hole, a plush Private Dining room kitted out with a cinema screen, pool table, surround sound audio, a full Sky Sports package, a range of movies and even a shuffleboard table! This opulent badger’s sett has all the bells and whistles to keep 12 guests entertained for a seated lunch or dinner, or up to 25 guests for a cocktail gathering.

The stunning interiors are the brainchild of Tibbetts Abel, an award winning interior design and architectural agency who are no strangers to the Restaurant and Bar Design Awards, having taken home the coveted Standalone Restaurant title in 2015 for Jinjuu restaurant, London.

Here’s hoping the board of esteemed judges love Badger and Co. just as much as we do!
